Game-worn hockey jerseys can run into hundreds or even thousands of dollars, much more for those of a truly historic nature. The hockey collecting community is extremely passionate, very resourceful and often willing to spend what it takes to build impressive collections. Prices for quality game-used NHL jerseys reflect signficant interest in the US, Canada and the hockey-playing nations around the world. In fact, hockey's worldwide popularity and collector base is truly unique. It's possible to build a nice game-worn collection, however, without spending a ton of money. Many collectors have found a very satisfying niche in minor league hockey jerseys. Jerseys from all levels of pro hockey are available on eBay and are often much more colorful and far less expensive. The unique logos, the large number of franchises and the price level are very attractive to collectors who have been in the hobby for a long time or are just getting started. They're relatively easy to store. If you have closet space, you can hang a couple dozen without really taking up a lot of space. There is the prospecting element too. Many people love to speculate on a minor league player's chances of success at the next level and seek out that player's sweaters from his pre-NHL days. Minor league hockey jerseys are definitely a growing part of the sports memorabilia industry. |
